Gregory Dargent is among the artists selected for the official lineup of Babel Music XP, the Mediterranean hub for world music, which will take place in Marseille from March 19 to 21, 2026. The musician will perform on Saturday, March 21, at La Plateforme (formerly Dock des Suds) as part of this professional and artistic event dedicated to world music.
From an initiatory quest into the depths of his family heritage, guitarist and oud player Grégory Dargent eventually embarked on an inspiring wanderlust that took him from Algeria to Egypt, via Lebanon and Iraq. From this journey, he brings back Soleil d’Hiver, a solo creation for augmented oud, featuring electronic effects and magnetic tapes, accompanied by hypnotic projections. Through a raw, contemporary, and expressionistic vocabulary of his instrument, he delves into the intimate depths of his family roots buried on the other shore, entwined with exile and war, in a crossover of fierce tensions and tragic improvisations.
