Olga Amelchenko unveils ‘Touching the Invisible’, a new album on Edition Records

Sorties

The Parisian saxophonist and composer Olga Amelchenko has established herself as one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary European jazz. Her lyrical and expressive style of composition has now reached a new pinnacle: Touching the Invisible. An album that affirms a deeply personal musical identity.

Recorded with her new quartet, Touching the Invisible is due for release in October 2026 on the excellent British label Edition Records. Shaped by years spent in Germany and now based in Paris, Olga draws on this rich background to create music imbued with resilience and passion.

She is accompanied by:

- Rob Clearfield - piano and keyboards

- Juan Villarroel - double bass and electric bass

- John Hadfield - drums

- Saxophonist Musina Ebobissé joins the band as a guest on several tracks.

The album explores the space between what is known and what lies ahead: those moments of anticipation, wonder and possibility that accompany the unknown. Driven by lyrical melodies, rich harmonic textures and powerful grooves, the quartet’s music unfolds a world that is both sensitive and deeply rooted in movement. The musicians move naturally from precise ensemble playing to more spontaneous moments of improvisation.

Sensitive, energetic and deeply melodic, Touching the Invisible invites the listener into a world fuelled by curiosity, imagination and collective momentum.
