Présentation du projet

With Quarteto Afrocubano, Omar Sosa returns to the essence of his music. The project explores Afro-Cuban traditions in their original vitality and confronts them with the languages of modal jazz, free improvisation, and contemporary grooves.

This quartet draws on the power of the clave, the rhythmic matrix of Cuban culture, to build a space of collective freedom. Yoruba songs, ancestral percussion, and melodic piano lines intertwine in a dynamic where each musician becomes a bearer of tradition and innovation. On stage, the Quarteto Afrocubano deploys a ritualized and festive energy, where the Afro-Cuban heritage opens up to the horizons of the most visionary jazz. Between memory and future, the group embodies a return to its roots as much as a creative laboratory.
