Mathias Lévy releases a brilliant collaborative album with Chant Song

It has already been a month since Mathias Lévy unveiled Chant Song, his new album, and the record continues to make its mark with the same elegance: a blend of jazz, poetry and improvisation.

Surrounding Mathias' violin, a constellation of loyal musicians — Lou Tavano (vocals), Sébastien Giniaux (guitar and cello), Jean-Philippe Viret (double bass) and Laurent Derache (accordion) — create a soundscape of great freedom. Together, they celebrate the pleasure of playing together, melody as a common language, words as breath.

Based on texts by Jacques Prévert, Blaise Cendrars and other travelling poets, Chant Song explores the porous boundary between song and jazz, between writing and improvisation. It is an album to be savoured over time, where each listen reveals new nuances.
