bio

Tony Paeleman, french pianist, approaches this new opus with the desire to create an artistic piece that resonates far beyond music alone. To this end, he summons his trio born with The Fuse in 2021, album very warmly welcomed at the time.

His new album, Wise Animals, conveys contrasting and sometimes opposing emotions, singing of the beauty of nature and the animal world, which moves and profoundly touches the heart. At the same time, it expresses a fear of the destruction of this beauty, the looming extinction of these species—a kind of pre-emptive nostalgia for a world collapsing under humanity’s unbridled, unconscious activity.

For Tony, the animal world could teach us a form of wisdom that Human kind seems to have lost. Wise Animals  is a bestiary, each track being an ode to an animal species. His very personnal Noah’s Ark

On stage, Wise Animals takes on the dimension of a real show, whose stakes, beyond the remarkable instrumental performance and breathtaking interaction of a trio in full maturity, are a deep and lively reflection on the world in motion.

TTTT – Télérama

« Wise Animals gently invites us to empathise with a world that, let’s not forget, is or should be (provided we stop reducing it to its edible and enslavable dimension) our own. »

Choc – Jazz Magazine

« An album that speaks as much of the power as of the fragility and intimacy of nature: eloquent and concise in a rare way »

Jazz News

« Alternating sweet piano arpeggios and psychedelic synths, minimalist grooves and electro digressions, gentleness and tension. Tony Paeleman illustrates the beauty of the animal world and his fear of seeing it disappear. At times hunter on tribal rhythms, at other times hunted on hypnotic slow tempos or on aquatic hip-hop with guest rapper J.Medeiros. Wise and wild animals. »

“Tony Paeleman’s taste for contrast and his sense of development create a living tableau. A beautiful album for philosophizing…”
